PSE45 - BROOK'S BOOKS : Inner Freedom IV

w/ author Brook. I devote this latest BROOK’S BOOKS conversation to again exploring the topic of inner freedom. What is it? What does it mean that the human being has it?

Apophenia Gold is the title of Brook’s planned 7-book series [pen name Rose C. Lane] and also of the first book in the series. The books have as their basis an anthroposophical world view. In these conversations for “BROOK’S BOOKS”, we take a theme from the books and discuss it more fully.
The second book, Mercury’s Riddles, is hot off the presses! I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Topics we touch upon in this convo include: her significant psycho-spiritual yet also temporary experience reading Steiner as a 20-something; the purpose of feelings & training high drive animals; visualizing interior landscapes; discerning of evil and of the many influences upon us — astrology, weather, other people, propaganda/news, society/culture etc; from ‘blame state’ to inner freedom; ethical individualism; ‘the shadow is part of the gift’; witnessing of evil; the Manichean idea; incarnational patterns, biography work, intuiting your own destiny & freely responding/processing; perceiving ‘story beings’ in their evolution.

Practical Steiner is a podcast addressing the question “What might Steiner say?” about this or that topic that is of interest to me, the host. I am a fairly new Steiner student and have felt in these past going-on-four years that finally, after decades of wondering about the “why” of many things, I have finally come across someone with comprehensive knowledge enough to answer many of those questions.
My podcast is conversations - the more candid and honest the better - with various people who have been studying at least as long as I have and who have taken up Anthroposophy, in one measure or another, as a way of living. My over-arching interest is not in presenting “expert” opinion/interpretation of Steiner’s body of work but rather lies at the interface of the guidance from Steiner’s books and lectures with how someone lives their everyday life.
